Donica is currently in her third and final year of the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology: Art Therapy masters program at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She is particularly interested in art education, storytelling & archetypes, choice theory, and the concept of FLOW from Csikszentmihalyi.
Donica is presently a counseling intern at an alternative high school for pregnant and mothering teens in a metro city of Colorado where she integrates the roles of art educator and art therapist to teach a district approved art course 'Art & Craft I'. In this course, Donica teaches her students the basics of art while skillfully using the metapor of the materials and process for therapeutic value and relationship building.
Donica is an advocate for using any creative medium that may promote healing, mindfulness, and authentic expression. Donica has played with:
